JOY AND PROSPERITY
Confectionery as mementos of weddings and christenings became popular in the middle classes in the late-19th century. Decorated with infants sculpted in sugar and symbols of faithfulness, love, hearth and home. In the 1960s, a few families would still order such confectionery for special family occasions.
